Short + Sweet Song Malaysia 2015 proudly presents Frequency of Light by TwelveAndSeven

TwelveAndSeven will be performing at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center in conjunction with Short + Sweet Song 2015 and I am so nervous. It has been quite some time since I have been on stage. Of course, there are those random open mics here and there, but in front of paying audience actually takes things to a whole 'nother level, don't you think?

Frequency of Light needs a slightly more than imaginative tan average mind in order to appreciate. It is awesome like that. The competition this year is pretty fierce. Safe to day, KL is breeding an interesting pool of new singers and songwriters. We can only hope that these artistes will be able to pursue their dreams in such a challenging industry. Now come to think of it, our song - Frequency of Light - should be dedicated to all of you. May you, me and everyone push on to chase our actualised self in this great big urban forest and all its technological temptations.

Bulletproof Picasso by Train

I love how most songs in this album is written just simply, flowing so smoothly throughout the songs. Not as quirky as some of the band’s previous songs. Not really in the light of humour either. Then again, not quite as grown up either. This album, as a collection, feels to e in the flavour of a transition. Of growing up. Not quite there. But enjoying, and I really mean enjoying, every step of the way.

The songs are light-hearted, honest, sometimes insecure but finding that security, sometimes confused but finding that faith. With all the joys and tribulations of the inevitable journey towards maturity.

Personal favourite song in this album: Bulletproof Picasso (Track 2), Give It All (Track 4), Just A Memory (Track 7) and I Will Remember (Track 9). And you know what, if you’ve listened to Cadillac Cadillac (Track 1) often enough, it might actually rub off on you too.

On perhaps a related note, I have seen the official music videos for some of the songs and really wished I did not. I am sorry, but I had envisioned far more spectacular stories in just listening to the songs, only to be pretty disappointed by their official video portrayal.

So I found the culprit who has been terrorizing my spinach plant

And there he is. Trying to look all sweet and innocent and all when he has been chewing on my sweet potato leaves and spinach plant.

Do not be deceived by those orange eyes. He may be tiny - less than an inch long - but boy, does has he got an appetite!

And don't worry. I did not kill the poor, frightened thing. I gave him a real long scolding and sent him on his way. I have a sneaking suspicion though, that this is not the last that I see of him. Hm.

My chili plant is flowering!

This chilli plant was also a gift from SS and came to me as a wee little thing in a tiny polybag. For lack of pots, I transferred her into a small pot when I got home, only to realise that this girl is going to out grow her pot in no time!

That was how I learnt the hard way how sensitive and tempremental a chilli plant gets when she gets repotted too many times. I thought she would be happy in a nice big pot now but noooo... she has decided to sulk on me. What did she do? She refused to grow. Don't get me wrong. She did not wither or die or anything like that. She just did not grow. She stopped growing. She neither got bigger or smaller.

And she stayed that way for a long, long time. Weeks and weeks. I gave her compost and fertilizer but she just refuses to grow. I moved her pit around to different spots in the garden but nothing. So what did I do to a child throwing a tantrum? Mama leaves you in the corner. You can come out when you have calmed down.

And then one day, she did. A few extra leaves decided not to sulk anymore and popped out. I moved her around and I guess she found a spot she liked and got taller. And then, what is this? Flowers! Little yellow flowers smiling back at me!
